There’s Enough for Everyone
March 1, 2008Lesson 5 Hunger ”Jesus, looking at him, loved and said, ‘You lack one thing, go sell what you own, and give the money to the poor; and you will have treasure in heaven; then come follow me” (Mark 10:21)
The topic is hunger and poverty. We are called to make wise decisions with our money and to hear God’s call to care for the poor.

Sunday February 24 Recap
February 25, 2008Teacher: Barb Hauck-Mah Attendance: 2 Junior High students
“Genesis and Going Green”. Our discussion and activities focused on how to be more environmentally responsible in daily life. We shared some ecofriendly things we were doing personally and as a family. We took a Sierra club quiz on being green while doing laundry, and scored a B. Here’s the link if you want to take the test called “How Green is My Laundry?”
http://www.sierraclub.org/howgreen/laundry/
We speculated on steps Stanley Church had taken in this area. Then we did a quick environmental audit around the interior rooms. We replaced some light bulbs with the energy saving fluorescents. We were happy to see Shawn’s office already had the energy saving bulbs. We noted about 10 more bulbs that would need changing . We made a list of some other items to fix. We watched a bit of the end of Arctic Tale, a documentary about global warming’s impact on arctic animals. For more information go to http://green.nationalgeographic.com
No class next Sunday March 2. It’s pancake breakfast and communion Sunday. But, Barb will be in the Christian Ed office 8:30-10 hauling off stuff to bulk pickup disposal. All Junior PF are encouraged to stop in and help for a bit.
Have a great week.

Sunday meeting Feb 10 recap
February 10, 2008Class Leader: Barb H-M, Jr High attendance: 6
Our curriculum focus is on ”Changing Your World”. The group suggested ideas for service activities we could do for and at Stanley. We’re looking for activities that could be done in one week, and some longer projects. The ideas are grouped and posted in the Christian Ed Coordinator’s office bulletin board. Here’s what was suggested–
Cleaning up around the church inside (CE office), (Behind the stage) and out; Cooking lunch, dinner, as a fundraiser or for the congregation, raising money with a car wash , tag sale (Harvest market-type event?) dance contest, karioke night, dance dance revolution event, or food and some entertainment (like Epiphany dinner, but wait awhile?)
Barb H-M asked about Jr High hosting a coffee hour–little enthusiasm for the clean-up, but maybe for the food prep and serve part?
For publicity and entertainment, we could make videos or take pictures as we do these projects to share with the congregation (Okay group, what did I miss? send an email to hauckmah@optonline.net or post a comment)
Here are the guidelines we talked about for this blog.
1) Barb H-M will be posting blog entries, and moderating or editing all blog comments for propriety and to protect identities;
2) This is a public blog which can be viewed by the congregation and whoever else finds it on the internet;
2) When you comment, use only initials, a code name or “Anonymous” is okay.Your email address will not appear on the blog–Look at the comments already posted to see what will appear.
3) No one has to post if they don’t want to. You can just check out what others have posted.
4) Use this blog to share links, ideas, or touch base with others in the group.
5) We will be able to add short movies or photos to the blog if we’d like.
Coming Up–Class Feb 17 is One Room Schoolhouse or you can stay for the service. Next Jr High meeting is Sunday February 24.
Calendar–There is a Google calendar link on this blog. Still tinkering with it.
Peace, Barb H-M

Just Because We’re Different
February 9, 2008Lesson Guide We’re Different
“I truly understand that God shows no partiality, but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him”. (ACTS 10:34b-35).
God created our differences. How can we respect these differences out of love?

Do Something Before We Can’t Breathe
February 8, 2008This lesson was the topic of Sunday school on February 24. See that post recap for details.
Lesson Guide for Session 2 Do Something Before We Can’t Breathe
“And it was so. God saw everything that God had made, and indeed, it was very good”. (GENESIS 1:30b-31a )
God created us in God’s own image, and we are to care for creation as God cares for us.

Changing Your World-Do Unto Others
